* Gifted piano teacher

Making goal-setting, review and assessment a joint exercise with my students is helping me teach them to make clearer connections between their practise and the quality of their performances, and take responsibility for their work.

To my readers:  Wow.  I keep telling Eliza that she missed her calling as a special education teacher!  She is doing a fabulous job teaching piano, so I shouldn’t fuss!  Her approach to teaching piano will work well no matter the setting and especially if students have learning challenges.  Follow her blog for terrific ideas!!

* Smorgasbord blog humor!

This was the most viewed humour post of 2017 – I hope you enjoy….. Strange things happen in bars.. drinking too much can alter your persective in life and sometimes rearrange your facial features. * We Love Charlie Brown book

Group by Group has produced another excellent book, along with a week of fun activities, featuring Charlie Brown characters. Their work is always terrific!

Group by Group

Our theme for this week was lots of fun!  We took a look at some of the characters in the comic Peanuts.  Some of our amazing students posed as the characters–from Charlie Brown to little sister Sally to piano-laying Shroeder.  Our awesome art teacher, Judy, and some of her talented students helped us by painting a Peanuts background for our models to pose in front of.  Very cool!

* Thinking of You

What a precious heart Michelle has! How encouraging- and what great advice!

2 R Better Than 1

Good morning, friends! Welcome to the work week and another day that the Lord has made. Today I woke up thinking about all of you and what I would share. Typically, I schedule posts in advance, but last night I had a few people on my mind and in my heart, so I did what I vowed I would always do when that happens — pray. I promised myself that I would pray for anyone who crossed my mind in that moment. Most people probably call or text whenever they think of someone they love, but I stop to pray. One day I hope to do both; but for now, I’ll simply pray.

Lord God, thank you for all of the special people that you’ve placed in my life. I ask that you bless them, comfort them, and heal them of all their hurts. For my BFF, my sisters in…

IT’S ALL IN MY HEAD

My ear was itching in that deep down, hard to reach place. I tried for several days to scratch it by trial and error. Sticking my finger in there, jiggling it around did not help. Doing that thing with my tongue, scratching my throat did not help. Carefully inserting a cotton swab a little ways in did not work either. I tried flushing it out with warm water, then suctioning it out. This just made it worse. Now every sound was muffled, and the itch was still there.

There was no relief. Itching day and night was taking it’s toll on me. Lack of sleep, and unable to concentrate on daily activities caused me to call in sick to my place of employment on more than one occasion as the days and weeks went by.

I didn’t want to, but I made an appointment with…
