* COVID in our home

My dearest teaching widower (DTW) and I have COVID. When all this mess started, I wondered why folks were so hysterical about toilet paper and paper towels. Well, we have all learned a lot about supply chains and quarantine and masks. Now my DTW and I are in the Big Boy leagues. ISOLATION. Ooh!

I feel like I have a sinus infection: achy, tired, and sluggish. I’d had the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine a couple of weeks ago, which must have helped. My DTW, on the other hand, has cancer and heart disease. To make things more interesting, he had the virus but didn’t know it. So the next day, he also got the vaccine. Now he’s had a double dose of this crud. Yikes!

My DTW is taking ALL these supplements. My system doesn’t tolerate them well, so I’m sticking with C and oil of oregano. He has lost his sense of taste, which is awful, but is still as patient and uncomplaining as ever. Me? Not so much. But neither of us has had a fever, Small victories, right?

For a couple who had only known one person with this bug prior to Monday, we have jumped into the fray rather quickly. If I hadn’t had cataract surgery scheduled for this week, I wouldn’t have known I had the virus. I was shocked to get the results, but then my DTW’s coughing made a lot of sense. Hopefully we have some decent immunity after this, plus I am considering customized tee shirts. Well, maybe not. As everyone now says, “Stay safe!”

  1. Take care of yourselves. Both Chris and I have had covid. It’s not fun. I recommend you telling your doctor, there are medications (yes natural ones) you can take to help you out. Get plenty of rest and then get more rest. Covid is exhausting and the more you honor that and get rest, the better.

  2. Oh, my love, I’m so sorry. I am sure the first dose of vaccine will help you !!! Then the course is definitely more likely. I would recommend that you take high doses of vitamin D3. At least 20,000 to 50,000 i.u. units daily and vitamin K2 in addition so that the body can metabolize D3 well.
    Vitamin D3 is also given to those infected with Covid 19 as a first measure in hospitals.
    For example this preparation, K2 is already there: https://www.sunday.de/vitamin-d3-kapseln-20000-ie-plus-k2-mk7-200mcg-100-prozent-all-trans-set.html ? gclid = CjwKCAjw9MuCBhBUEiwAbDZ-7nmRHUxnHXSLaqKgNPUVZLaijKoiCx4-bbq5pd4HS1DYrxqGKAU1pxoCEQAQAvD_BwE

    I send you a lot of strength. I’m thinking of you . ❤

      • I don’t know anyone who has had it, except maybe myself. I didn’t have a test for it, but last year when I was in the hospital for a week I think that’s what it was. It was just a few days later that they started realizing that what might be flu, was really Covid. It was strangest and awfullest flu I’ve ever had. So, I’m saying I had it.
        So far all my family – me and the mister, both daughters and son in laws have had the Moderna shots. The grand kids haven’t of course yet, so I still worry about that.

      • Wow. I’m so glad you recovered so quickly. It is a very strange virus, with all kinds of quirky symptoms. I think that kids are less likely to catch it. My husband and I exposed our granddaughter. And our sin and his wife. They seem ok for now.

  3. So sorry to hear this, Katharine. I sure hope both of you have a speedy recovery and that there are no lingering effects. My wife and I are just below the 65 aged cut-off here in California. We’ve gotten quite a lot of mileage out of telling each other it’s the first time in 40+ years that we’ve been too young for something. 😎

    My best to you and your DTW.

    • Hahaha! That’s great! Someone apologized to me for implying that I was old enough to qualify for the vaccine. I’m still trying to figure out how I should have responded. I’ll bet you can think of something clever! 😎
